Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Cable Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing various types of cabling systems, including low voltage and fiber optic cables. This role requires a strong mechanical and electrical knowledge, as well as proficiency in using hand tools and testing equipment such as an ohmmeter. The Cable Technician will work closely with clients to ensure high-quality service delivery and effective telecommunication solutions.
Duties
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot cabling systems for telecommunication networks.
- Perform fiber splicing and ensure proper connectivity of cables.
- Utilize hand tools and testing equipment, including ohmmeters, to assess cable integrity.
- Conduct routine inspections of cabling infrastructure to identify potential issues.
- Collaborate with service technicians to resolve technical problems efficiently.
- Document all work performed, including installation details and service reports.
- Adhere to safety protocols while working in various environments.
Requirements
- Proven experience in cabling installation or related field is preferred.
- Familiarity with low voltage systems and fiber splicing techniques.
- Strong mechanical knowledge and electrical skills.
- Ability to effectively use hand tools and testing equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with clients and team members.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- A valid driver's license may be required for travel between job sites.
