Molded Dimensions is seeking a skilled Tool and Die Maker to construct, modify, and repair molds, fixtures, dies, and gauges with precision and quality workmanship. This role requires close collaboration with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance teams to enhance manufacturing efficiency and product quality while following all safety procedures.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Work with cross-functional teams to design, modify, and repair molds, fixtures, dies, and gauges.
- Estimate costs and execute work based on drawings, CAD files, verbal/written instructions, and sample parts.
- Plan and set up machining operations, select appropriate materials, and adapt tooling as needed.
- Utilize and maintain digital technologies such as SurfCam and CNC machine programs.
- Determine inspection methods, conduct precise measurements, and ensure high-quality workmanship.
- Manage external vendors for outsourced work and oversee their performance.
- Maintain tool room equipment and keep detailed records.
- Optimize tool and supply inventories for availability and cost efficiency.
- Collaborate with the Director of Engineering to prioritize tool room work orders.
- Support Manufacturing with special production setups, troubleshooting, and repairs.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Recommend improvements in processes, technology, and equipment.
- Foster a positive workplace culture and continuous improvement mindset.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Completion of an apprenticeship in Tool and Die Making or equivalent on-the-job experience.
- Strong ability to work with precision, ensuring safety and preventing damage to molds and equipment.
- Experience with CNC machining, CAD software, and inspection techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
