Molded Dimensions Group specializes in manufacturing highly engineered injection-molded plastic products, serving core markets such as medical, transportation, and electronic industry.
Molded Dimensions Group is seeking an experienced Lead Tool Maker/Supervisor to join our team in Fife, Washington. The injection molding Lead Tool Maker/Supervisor is responsible for repairing, maintaining, modifying and inspecting injection molds. This role will ensure optimal tooling performance, minimize downtime, and maximize productivity. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in injection molding, an expert in tooling repair, a keen eye for detail, great communication skills and excellent leadership skills.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with engineering team to develop tooling specifications and drawings as required
- Lead, mentor and develop a team of tooling technicians/mold makers (goal setting)
- Manage procurement process for tooling related activity (repairs, maintenance, ECOs, etc)
- Maintain a robust preventative maintenance program to optimize tooling lifespan and performance
- Oversee the repair and refurbishment of tooling components
- Manage inventory of spare parts and tooling components
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance tooling efficiency
- Conduct root cause analysis of tooling-related issues and implement corrective actions
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to troubleshoot molding problems and initiate tooling
- repairs/improvements as needed
- Complete hands-on work as required (CNC, EDM, manual tools, etc)
- Confer with equipment vendors as required
- Oversee the training and development of new and existing employees

Qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED
- 5 years of experience in injection molding tooling with a minimum of 1 year supervisory experience
- Strong understanding of injection molding processes, materials, and tooling design principles
- Complete knowledge of tool making from design to fabrication, procurement, fitting, troubleshooting and approval
- Operation and maintenance knowledge of machining equipment used in tool making (CNC, EDM, surface grinding, lathe, manual mill, etc)
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, MasterCam, etc.)
- Fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Experience with AS9100/ISO9001 QMS
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- IQMS experience is a plus
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35.00 - $50.00 per hour
