What we're looking for

SurveyMonkey is seeking a dynamic and experienced Legal Operations professional to support our Legal and Corporate Affairs team (LCA team). This role will oversee the team's business management to drive operational excellence and efficiency across the team and help the team scale. The role will report to the General Counsel and will interface with Finance, Sales Enablement, and other cross-functional partners across the team and company.

What you'll be working on

  • Manage and oversee technology platforms and initiatives across the LCA team, including contract lifecycle management platform and Zendesk legal queue, and evaluate new software tools to help automate manual processes, enhance current processes, or support other system integrations to help the LCA team scale.
  • Manage processes related to outside counsel and vendor / contractor relationships for the LCA team, including onboarding, invoicing and accrual submission; communicate and coordinate with vendors, law firms, and the Finance team regarding the same.
  • Support expense management and budget for the LCA team, including monthly accrual reporting; administer and maintain legal e-billing system (including matter management and invoicing), law firm billing guidelines, law firm engagement letter review, and conflicts of interest; perform day-to-day tasks regarding the same.
  • Maintain and enhance LCA team's internal portals; create self-service tools (dashboards, toolkits, FAQs, etc.) and related training to support knowledge management within the LCA team; maintain and enhance existing policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Track LCA team goals and priorities; create and drive relationships with cross functional partners, such as IT and Finance.
  • Provide general administrative support to the LCA team, including team event planning, and support other ad hoc projects as needed.

We'd love to hear from people with

  • 8 years of relevant experience in business operations and project management, with at least 3 years of experience at a law firm or at an in-house legal department.
  • Strong technical skills; adept at workflow automation and implementation of AI tools; extensive experience with Slack, MS Office, Google Workspace, DocuSign, and other software tools (e.g. JIRA, Zendesk, e-billing platforms (SimpleLegal / CounselGo experience is a plus), vendor management platforms, and CLM platforms.
  • Exercises superior organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail while keeping the "big picture" in mind. Loves designing processes without letting the process overwhelm business objectives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact independently and effectively with individuals at all organizational levels, including executives and senior management.
  • Ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously under deadline pressure.
  • A high degree of initiative, creativity, and pragmatism, with a collaborative approach, a positive attitude, and a sense of humor.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth, and business results-driven environment.
  • The base pay provided for this position ranges from $101,320 / year - $137,080 / year depending on the geographic market and assuming a full-time schedule. Actual base pay is based on a number of factors including market location, job-related knowledge, education or training, skills, and experience.

    Bonuses and commissions may also be offered as part of the total compensation package, in addition to a competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance; 401(k) retirement plan; flexible spending & health savings account; paid holidays; paid time off; employee assistance program; and other company benefits.

    This opportunity is hybrid and requires you to work from a SurveyMonkey office 1 day per week.
