Position Summary:
The Momentous Controller will own and evolve the accounting function and will collaborate with and support on the FP&A side. This role reports into the SVP of Finance.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the preparation and analysis of accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in accordance with GAAP
- Manage outside accounting firm to ensure all day-to-day accounting operations as well as month-end closes are completed timely and accurately
- Own monthly reporting to internal and external management, including investors and/or lenders
- Provide insightful analysis of financial results, variance analysis, and key performance indicators, highlighting trends, opportunities, and risks for informed decision-making
- Develop, implement, and monitor processes and procedures, including systems architecture, around financial management of the Company
- Manage direct and indirect domestic and global tax processes leveraging outside consultants where needed.
- Coordinate external audits and examinations, serving as a primary liaison with auditors and regulatory agencies, ensuring timely and accurate completion of audit requests and addressing any audit findings or recommendations
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, automate manual tasks, and enhance efficiency and effectiveness, leveraging technology and best practices to drive operational excellence
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior management on special projects, strategic initiatives, mergers and acquisitions, and other ad-hoc analyses as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
- 8 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance roles
- Start-up experience is a must
- Thorough understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirements
- Strong entrepreneurial, prosocial, and proactive approach; an eagerness to get things done!
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate insights effectively to stakeholders
- Proven track record of driving process improvements, implementing best practices, and delivering results in a fast-paced environment
- Advanced proficiency in Cin7 Inventory Management, Shopify, Amazon FBA, Microsoft Excel, ERP systems, and financial reporting tools
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization
