Momentum is seeking seasonal Summer Camp Counselors to lead and instruct young climbers in a fun and dynamic camp environment. Summer Camp Counselors play a vital role in creating an engaging, supportive, and safe experience for all participants. This position requires strong communication skills, enthusiasm for working with kids, and the ability to maintain a positive, high-energy atmosphere.
Summer Camp Counselors will facilitate Momentum Summer Camps from May through August , ensuring that campers have an unforgettable experience. Counselors are responsible for leading climbing instruction, games, and activities while upholding safety and risk management standards. Depending on the gym location, counselors will teach bouldering techniques and, where applicable, top-rope climbing skills.
Position Type : Seasonal, Part-Time or Full-Time (20-40 hrs / week)
Minimum Age Requirement : 16
Compensation : Starting at $14.00 / hour
Season Dates : Late May - Mid-August
Responsibilities & Expectations
Primary Focus (20-40 hrs / week, based on availability) :
- Instruct Summer Camps - Create a safe, fun, and engaging experience for campers.
- Teach Climbing Skills - Provide age-appropriate instruction based on gym type :
- Full-Service Gym : Top-rope climbing, auto-belay, and bouldering.
- Bouldering Gym : Bouldering techniques, movement skills, and falling safety.
- Lead Games & Activities - Keep campers engaged with structured play on and off the walls.
- Ensure Safety & Supervision - Enforce climbing best practices and maintain a positive environment.
- Encourage Growth & Confidence - Foster teamwork, problem-solving, and self-esteem.
