Job Summary:
The Facilities Manager is a crucial team member responsible for ensuring the safety, functionality, and overall comfort of our residents. This role involves performing routine maintenance tasks, addressing emergency repairs, and overseeing the general upkeep of the facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in maintenance work, excellent problem-solving skills, and a compassionate approach to interacting with elderly residents. The Facilities Manager will report to the Administrator.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance on all appliances throughout the facility.
- Maintain all housekeeping and landscaping equipment in safe and working condition.
- Manages staff under his/her direction.
- Schedule and track outside maintenance (i.e. window cleaning, pest control, painter)
- Keep facility grounds in a clean, presentable and operational state.
- Organize the set-up and take-down of equipment used for facility events.
- Train new employees for landscaping and future facility manager.
- Reports any suspicion or evidence of elder abuse, mistreatment or neglect as outlined in Personnel Policies.
- Intervenes in situations involving unsafe or inadequate care and reports immediately to the Administrator.
- Promptly answers emergency call system, telephone and paging systems.
- Participates in all scheduled team member meetings, and other community-wide Team Member meetings as requested.
- Participates in voluntary and mandatory on-going education and in-service training.
- Uses effective verbal and non-verbal communication to present information in a positive and non-threatening way.
- Demonstrates good practice of infection control principles by understanding the infectious process and modes of disease transmission, and by using appropriate hand washing techniques.
- Maintains a safe environment by: keeping the community safe, clean and comfortable; Recognizing environmental safety hazards, understands the methods to prevent on-the-job accidents and injuries; using safe practices when O2 is in use; identifying and following the community’s disaster plans; can describe and follow the community’s fire procedure, including the operation of fire extinguishers and ways to prevent fires; planning for the safe use and maintenance of equipment; practicing good infection control procedures.
- Provides basic emergency care as determined by the emergency needs of the residents by providing basic first aid.
- Keep storage rooms, pantries and storage bins orderly and compliant with state laws and regulations.
- Reports any needed repairs of community-owned property to the Administrator.
- Notifies Administrator of any inappropriate staff conduct.
- Performs and completes assignments within established procedures and guidelines.
- Complete all reports and documents accurately and completely.
- Other tasks as requested by the administrator.
Required Experience, Education, & Skills:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be criminally cleared by DOJ and FBI via the Live-Scan process prior to employment.
- Be in good health and physically and mentally capable of performing assigned tasks. Good physical health shall be verified by a health screening performed by a physician not more that (6) months prior to or (7) days following employment. Must test free from pulmonary tuberculosis at time of health screening.
- Able to read, write, understand and communicate in English at a minimum of 8th grade proficiency.
- Proficient written and oral communication skills with other members of management, professional and support staff are also required.
- Positive and energetic attitude.
- Must be professional in appearance and conduct.
- Have current Adult First Aid card at time of employment (or obtain within the first four weeks of employment) and maintain throughout the length of employment.
- Must have dependable transportation and be able to work varying hours as needed.
