POSITION SUMMARY
With direction, the Quality Engineer will develop, coordinate, and implement the quality assurance program designed to ensure quality production of products consistent with established standards and meets or exceeds customer needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Embraces the 1 T.E.A.M. culture.
Utilization of CMM and key enterprise resource management system involvement.
Formulates and maintains quality assurance objectives complementary to corporate policies and goals.
Manages customer relationships relative to customer needs, concerns, dissatisfactions, audits, inspections, etc.
Investigates and resolves customer complaints regarding quality.
Develops and implements systems to meet third party certifications to include ISO, IATF, ASTM, customer Quality Assurance programs, etc.
Interprets quality assurance philosophy to key personnel in organization.
Performs quality reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company quality records.
Applies statistical process control (SPC) methods for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process changes.
Decides whether to accept a product or continue business with a vendor based on a review by the quality assurance engineer.
Reviews all data obtained during all quality assurance activities to ensure consistency with company policies and procedures.
Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities.
Keeps management team abreast of significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and actions being taken to improve the situation.
Prepares and presents technical and program information to the management team.
Directs technical and administrative workers engaged in quality assurance activities.
Maintains a working knowledge of government and industry quality assurance codes and standards.
Designs and implements quality assurance training programs to key personnel in conjunction with managers.
Investigates and adjusts customer complaints regarding quality.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
May directly supervise a team of Quality Auditors.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employee; planning, assigning, and directing work.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Experience/familiarity with PLEX, preferred.
Experience in Lean manufacturing and/or six sigma techniques required. Experience in managing an APQP system required. Must have a good understanding of statistical methods and other quality core tools.
Must demonstrate the ability to get things done through others; be self-motivated, have a high sense of urgency and the ability to problem solve complex situations. Also, the ability to help/facilitate the team to use critical thinking on problem solving techniques.
Independent problem-solving and decision-making, using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing (Microsoft office suite), managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year College or university in engineering, OR
Comparable technical degree with eight or more years of quality management experience
Minimum of four years manufacturing experience, required.
LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
6 Sigma Green Belt, required
ISO Internal Audit, required
IATF/ISO Lead Audit, preferred
Quality Core Tool, preferred
