The Monell Chemical Senses Center is a world-renowned non-profit research institute, and a global leader dedicated to advancing knowledge about the senses of taste, smell, and related senses and translating its discoveries into real-world advances in policy, practice, and behavior. Monell is located in the heart of the vibrant educational and life sciences hub of Philadelphia. The Lim lab is seeking a full-time Research Technician. The starting date would be April 28th, 2025, but can be flexible.
The scientist in this role will work with a dynamic project team to execute experiments measuring perceptual, behavioral and metabolic responses to carbohydrates and carbohydrate containing foods. Specific responsibilities include maintaining stocks and purchasing research supplies, recruiting and scheduling human research participants, preparing samples for tasting, executing psychophysical tests following specified protocols, analyzing blood and / or saliva samples, record keeping / data entry, and communicating results to the project team.
Skills and Experience Required :
- B.A. or B.S. in Behavioral or Biological Science, Neuroscience, Nutrition, Food Science, Chemistry, or related field
- Ability to prioritize and manage on-going and new projects
- Ability to strictly implement research protocols and maintain records
- Ability to instruct research participants to ensure accurate data collection
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated passion, enthusiasm, and flexibility
- Familiarity with MS Office software, including Word and Excel
