The Monmouth County SPCA is seeking a seasoned development professional with a multi-faceted skillset which enables them to oversee the MCSPCA’s busy development department, managing day-to-day fundraising, marketing and communications operations as they relate to each other and the shelter as a whole. Demonstrated experience in nonprofit Development, managing staff effectively and a positive, energetic outlook are essential for this role.  


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


Development Operations:

●      Development Operations Manager is accountable for the development, implementation, and ongoing success of a highly functional Development team (comprised of Marketing and Communications Manager, Special Events and Community Outreach Manager, Database Coordinator, Volunteer Coordinator and Development Associate)

●      Manage day-to-day operations of the Development Office, I.e., overseeing all fundraising initiatives, events, communications and gift processing, managing revenue and expenses, hiring and training development office staff, negotiating contracts, and ordering office supplies

●      Supervise and provide leadership to development office staff to maximize fundraising competencies and best practices while supporting the Development Director to grow a robust donor pipeline

●      Identify opportunities for transformation and innovation to improve outcomes and efficiencies across the department, including gift processing, direct mail, donor communications, events, third-party fundraising, and volunteer management

●      Other duties as assigned


Fundraising:

●      Collaborate with the Development Director to strategize and execute a robust development program to meet year-end fundraising goals

●      Oversee all fundraising initiatives, including mid-level giving, events, third-party fundraising, corporate and foundation partnerships, matching gifts, planned giving, and monthly sustainer program

●      Conduct thorough research on potential fundraising prospects, encompassing prospective and current donors, foundations, and corporations. Generate comprehensive reports to aid the Development Director in donor cultivation and solicitation efforts

●      Works to deepen engagement and enhance involvement with new and existing volunteers

●      Contribute to donor cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and retention by applying moves management strategies

●      Work closely with the Development Director and Marketing Manager to facilitate regular communications, media relations, digital outreach, and primary messaging to advance fundraising efforts

 

Skills and Abilities Required:

●      Proven track record of successfully contributing to revenue targets within a not-for-profit environment and hands-on experience with fundraising software and technology

●      Demonstrate proficiency in moves management and commit to ethical fundraising practices when engaging with donors

●      Excellent managerial skills that empowers staff and engenders respect and trust

●      Be proactive, flexible, and innovative in their approach

●      Strong communication skills are essential, including engaging effectively with diverse audiences and producing compelling written content

●      Capable of collaborating with board members and other volunteer leaders.

●      Have a keen eye for identifying and leveraging new opportunities

●      A high-energy, can-do attitude, adaptability, teamwork, attention to detail, and a high degree of initiative are also crucial

 

Educational and Technical Experience Required:

●      Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience

●      Experience with fundraising, staff management, and project execution (5 years)

●      Competency in Microsoft Office products, proficiency in DonorPerfect (or comparable donor database), and strong capacity to use/learn new technologies

●      Ability to maintain confidentiality

●      Excellent attention to detail

●      Ability to complete projects in an efficient and timely manner.

●      Exemplary work ethic

●      Effective self-motivation and collaboration as a member of a team

●      Strong time-management skills with the flexibility to transition between projects

●      Knowledge of legal and accounting principles as they relate to fundraising

●      Some heavy lifting, standing for long periods of time, and physical exertion which is required to participate in special events

●      Must have access to reliable transportation and the ability to travel to meetings or events at different locations

 


Salary : $65,000 - $75,000
