Major Responsibilities
- Ensuring that Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Music Therapists, and Speech-Language Therapists, and clerical staff are upholding practices, policies, and regulations as established by the BOCES Board of Education, the State Education Department, Federal Government, and IDEA.
- Plan and direct the development, implementation and evaluation of clinical therapy services. Develop and disseminate services and responsibility in collaboration with school districts and BOCES.
- Plan, facilitate and implement requests for service from BOCES programs, component school districts and other instructional programs.
- Communicate information and requests for districts, BOCES and agencies regarding service and ability to meet student and family needs.
- Liaison with community health agencies and services.
- Respond to requests by the District Superintendent and Central Administration to serve in key roles, as determined appropriate given clinical therapies skills and knowledge.
- Coordinate proposals for department budget and direct the expenditure of monetary allotments.
- Plan and collaborate with programs and districts for space requirements to meet staff and student needs.
- Plan, facilitate and implement technology needs for entire department.
- Civil Service eligibility for Supervisor of Therapeutic Support Services:
- Licensed and currently registered by the New York State Education Department as an Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, Music Therapist, or Speech-Language Pathologist, plus five (5) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience as an Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, Music Therapist, or Speech-Language Pathologist.
- Three to five years of administrative experience.
- Experience with Trauma Informed Restorative Practices within a school setting.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Established relationships with local school districts, community health agencies, and governing bodies.
- Knowledge and experience regarding BOCES programs, services, and operations preferred.
- Reliable vehicle for supervision and oversight of the Behavioral Health Program.
- Physically able to perform essential functions of the position (with or without reasonable accommodation).
Salary : $100,000 - $115,000
