    Pay Scale: $80,000- $95,000/Year, Based on Experience

    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    The Assistant Principal is primarily responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of school policies and procedures, supporting the principal in managing daily school operations, and overseeing student discipline to ensure a positive school climate. The Assistant Principal will collaborate with teachers to develop and implement effective instruction, monitor student progress, and provide support for academic interventions. This role will ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, promote a culture of inclusivity and respect among students and staff, and collaborate with and support related service providers. Additionally, the Assistant Principal will oversee emergency response and crisis intervention teams and observe and evaluate teachers and support staff through the APPR requirements.

    TYPICAL DUTIES:

    • Provide leadership and development of special education programs.
    • Supervise curriculum development and implementation, ensuring the use of effective teaching strategies and instructional resources, including NYS Learning Standards.
    • Assist in the selection of staff and supervise and evaluate classroom teachers and support personnel.
    • Coordinate communication among classroom teachers, component school district representatives, and parents to ensure cohesive educational experiences.
    • Assist with classroom operations, including program budgets, class lists, student schedules, requisitions, program intakes, visitation days, and field trips.
    • Participate in committees, advisory groups, and special projects (e.g., PBIS, Extended Cabinet, Department Leadership Development) as determined by the Director.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Administration.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Experience:
    • Master's degree in education, Elementary, Secondary, and/or Special Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience.
    • Strong knowledge of special education laws, policies, and best practices for students with disabilities.
    • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with educators, therapists, families, and community partners.
    • Experience with trauma-informed practices and social emotional learning for students with disabilities.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and parents is essential, as is experience in Special Education and specially designed instruction.

    Certification:

    Requires New York State Certification as:
    • School Administrator and Supervisor (SAS); OR
    • School District Administrator; OR
    • School Building Leader; OR
    • School District Leader

Salary : $80,000 - $95,000
