- Develop and implement a strategic vision for special education programs within the school.
- Provide fiscal development and management of program budgets to include staffing recommendations ensuring the delivery of high-quality educational programs and services in research-based best practices.
- Lead administrators, faculty, and staff, ensuring ongoing professional development in special education best practices.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district regulations, including IDEA and Section 504.
- Supervise and evaluate special education teachers, support staff, and related service providers.
- Oversee the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and ensure alignment with student needs.
- Manage school operations, safety, budgeting, staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Foster a culture of inclusion, ensuring students with disabilities receive appropriate accommodation and support.

- Organize parent workshops, training sessions, and advocacy initiatives to strengthen family engagement.
- Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive student-centered school culture that supports students’ academic and social-emotional development.
- Oversee the implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
- Oversight in addressing disciplinary issues in a way that is restorative and aligned with students’ individual needs, focusing on behavioral growth and support.
- Implement behavior intervention strategies, positive behavioral supports, and restorative justice practices.
- Ensure students receive access to appropriate mental health, counseling, and related services.
- Master's degree in education, Special Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
- Demonstrated effective experience as an administrator (4-6 years).
- Extensive experience in teaching and/or administration at the elementary level.
- Strong knowledge of special education laws, policies, and best practices for students with disabilities.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with educators, therapists, families, and community partners.
- Experience with trauma-informed practices and social emotional learning for students with disabilities.

The Elementary School Principal for Special Education Programs is responsible for program oversight of several elementary programs. The principal provides visionary leadership to create an inclusive, supportive, and high-quality educational environment for students with disabilities from Pre K – grade 6. This role involves overseeing special education services, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, collaborating with teachers and support staff, and fostering strong relationships with parents and the community. The principal serves as an advocate for students with special needs and works collaboratively with families, staff, districts and community partners to provide a well-rounded, individualized education. The principal will also promote a culture of equity, individualized learning, and professional development for staff.
