What are the responsibilities and job description for the Faculty Lecturer position at Monroe Community College?
Monroe Community College has remained as the only Community College in the country to provide an Associates in Applied Science degree in Optics. Our Optical Systems Technology program continues to grow with more student enrollment and expanding new curriculum.
We are actively looking to fill a role as a faculty lecturer specializing in Optical manufacturing. Specifically traditional grind and polish of spherical and plano optics, as well as grind and sub-aperture polishing of Aspheric optics.
Canidates should be familiar with or proficient in the use of optical manufacturing equipment and metrology tools. Canidates should also feel comfortable instructing students on the use of the equipment and explaining the principles of optical manufacturing and metrology methods.
Function of Position:
Faculty prepare and teach face-to-face and online courses for the Optical Systems Technology program, develop new educational materials, assist with the assessment of student learning, as appropriate. Classes may be assigned at the Brighton and/or Downtown Campus (or other sites, as appropriate). This faculty position will report to the chairperson of the optical Systems Technology program within the Engineering Technologies department. The successful candidate will bring a passion for teaching and a desire to support and mentor MCC students as they pursue educational and career goals.
