What are the responsibilities and job description for the Judicial Assistant position at Monroe County, WI?
Are you a highly organized self-starter who has an interest in the Circuit Court? If so, Monroe County’s Circuit Court might have the job for you. We are looking for a full-time Judicial Assistant. Successful candidates will have an Associate’s degree in paralegal, criminal justice, legal assistant, or closely related field with three years of clerical work experience or a high school diploma/equivalent with five years of clerical or office support work experience. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired may also be considered.
Our Judicial Assistant provides highly responsible and confidential administrative support to the Circuit Court Branch II Judge. Our Judicial Assistant schedules court proceedings within guidelines established by the Judge, prepares notices and notifies counsel and parties involved, contacts prisons and jails to arrange for inmates and appearances by phone or video-conferencing, and maintains the court calendar for the Circuit Court. This position also performs case management duties while adhering to case processing guidelines and monitors case deadlines to ensure timelines are met; drafts orders and amendments in court cases; and performs file management while maintaining strict confidentiality for civil, criminal, traffic, family, paternity, small claims, and forfeiture case files.
