Responsibilities

  • Attend summer band rehearsals. Dates and time TBD by the Director of Bands
  • Attend all rehearsals during the course of the season
  • Attend all competitions (approximately 4), home football games and other public appearances as needed by the Director of Bands
  • Design, choreograph and teach percussion routines that effectively complement and enhance the percussion component of the marching band show
  • Evaluate members’ abilities and design a routine accordingly
  • Work closely with the Director of Bands and other staff members to develop a program that includes multiple types of percussion instruments
  • Instruct members in fundamental percussion techniques
  • Manage all equipment necessary for rehearsals and performances including maintenance, repair and acquisition recommendations ensuring that the percussion students are properly equipped for rehearsals and performances
  • Recruit potential percussion members while retaining current members
  • Other related duties, as assigned, to assist the Director of Bands prepare students for home games, competitions and public appearances
  • Follow all policies of Union County Public Schools and the band program to which they are associated.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must be 21 years old or older
  • Must be experienced working with marching bands (college Bands preferred but not required)
  • Have knowledge/experience in the percussion style consistent with HBCU drumlines.
  • Experience in composing and arranging percussion parts.
  • Demonstrated management and leadership skills
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in making decisions
  • Proven ability to carry an assignment to its completion
  • Demonstrated success in accomplishing tasks associated with the duties and responsibilities listed below

Pay: From $1,250.00 per year
