The Toledo Tool Library Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the tool library, including managing inventory, maintaining tools, scheduling member access, providing training on proper tool usage, and ensuring the smooth running of the facility, all while prioritizing safety and compliance with relevant regulations. This position is part-time, $20 for 15 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inventory Management:
    • Accurately track all tools within the library using a database system, including condition checks and regular inventory audits. 
    • Manage tool acquisitions, including purchasing new tools, accepting donations, and coordinating repairs or replacements. 
    • Organize and label tools for easy identification and retrieval. 
  • Member Services:
    • Process member sign-ups and ensure proper documentation is collected. 
    • Schedule tool rentals and check-in/check-out procedures, including verifying member identification and tool usage knowledge. 
    • Address member inquiries regarding tool availability, operation, and policies. 
  • Tool Maintenance and Repair:
    • Conduct routine cleaning and maintenance of tools to ensure functionality and safety. 
    • Coordinate with qualified technicians for complex repairs or specialized maintenance. 
    • Monitor tool condition and identify potential safety hazards. 
  • Training and Education:
    • Provide comprehensive training to new members on proper tool usage, safety procedures, and return policies. 
    • Deliver workshops or demonstrations on specific tools or techniques as needed. 
  • Facility Management:
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the tool library workspace. 
    • Monitor and address any facility issues, including equipment malfunctions or safety concerns. 
    • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and guidelines. 
  • Administrative Tasks:
    • Generate reports on tool usage, membership data, and inventory levels. 
    • Manage financial transactions related to tool rentals and membership fees. 
    • Assist with marketing and outreach efforts to promote the tool library services. 

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Technical Knowledge:

Understanding of various hand and power tools, their proper usage, and basic maintenance procedures.
