What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Scheduler position at Monroe Truck Equipment?
The Production Scheduler is responsible for managing the commercial master production plan to satisfy customer demand while carrying minimum effective inventory. The qualified individual will be responsible for providing multiple plants with a monthly production plan consistent with the plant capacity and sales forecast. The planner is responsible for determining the desired inventory levels for finished goods. The sales forecasts, new business opportunities, customer expectations, and internal supply constraints will be used to develop production plans, by month, for a rolling three month period. Strong collaboration with the Master Production Scheduler, Business Managers, Operations, Sales, Customer Service and Management will be critical to meeting business goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Facilitate and manage the Production Plan for designated products across multiple plants. Utilize the production
- capacity, taking into consideration the sales forecast, historical sales, and new business opportunities. Analyze and identify risks associated with the options built into the Production Plan, including manufacturing lead times. Schedules shared with the plants weekly.
- Perform supply demand analysis each quarter, highlighting areas of concern for a rolling 12 month window.
- Make delivery commitments on products, which involve checking uncommitted material and availability of capacity.
- Maintain finished goods inventory at target levels in ensure high service levels, i.e. product availability.
- Coordinate with Master Scheduler and Purchasing to project finished goods inventory levels on a quarterly basis and achieve desired corporate inventory turn targets.
- Coordinate with plant production planners to execute Production Plan on a weekly and monthly basis.
- Monitor actual output versus the Master Production Plan. In coordination with the Master Scheduler, identify gaps and drive solutions.
- Review sales forecast with Master Scheduler and business manager on a monthly basis, and suggest modifications consistent with knowledge of current or historical demand.
- Timely reporting of key metrics.
- Support the SIOP process meetings to review service levels, performance against schedule, inventory strategy, supply plan to meet demand, and resource implications. Update Production Plan as necessary.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred. Will consider candidates with the appropriate experience.
- Experience in logistics engineering and/or material flow activities (Receiving, Warehousing, Shipping)
- Experience in developing and initiating Lean Manufacturing based material flow lines in a manufacturing operation preferred
- At least 3 years of prior supervisory experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment preferred
- Proficient in using ERP systems, preferably WorkWise (warehouse management system, material planning & shipping/receiving modules)
- Experience with material flow processes and strategies including conveyance, part presentation and plan for every part in a made to order, metal fabrication environment strongly desired
- Detail oriented and data driven; Strong data analysis skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Experience with project justification and financial analysis

- PPE: the company provides Personal Protective Equipment as required by OSHA, including hearing, eye, head, hand, and foot protection, as required.
- Working with sharp materials.
- Heavy workloads with high noise levels.
- Fumes and exposure to chemicals associated within the welding department.
- Teams, jib, and overhead cranes to assist with heavy lifting and support preparing/loading trucks.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The Production Planner spends most of their time in an office environment. This position involves frequently writing notes or emails, talking on the telephone, and use of a computer.
