Summary and Qualifications
This position is responsible for providing direct nursing care to the residents and supervising the day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants.
Must maintain current licensure as an LPN in the State of CT.

Qualifications
Essential Job Functions

Directs the day-to-day operations of the unit.

Supervises, directs and assigns nursing assistants.

Receives report from previous shift and conducts rounds at beginning of shift and as needed.

Gives report to oncoming charge nurse at end of shift.

Gives report to staff at the beginning of the shift.
-
Ensures that unit staff comply with facility policies and procedures.
-
Completes rounds on the unit to observe patients and to determine if nursing needs are being met.

Completes 24 hour report.

Cooperates and coordinates services with other departments.

Admits, transfers and discharges residents per facility policy.
-
Attends care plan meetings as requested.
-
Completes accident/incident reports as necessary. Reports any incidents to supervisor.

Completes all required documentation.

Transcribes physician orders.
-
Notifies the Director of Nursing of any discrepancies in narcotic counts.

Ensures that rooms are ready for admissions.

Provides medications and treatments according to physician orders. -

Cooperates with and coordinate recreation programs with Recreation Therapy staff.

Assign staff to assist with transportation to programs.

Ensures that unit, nurse's station and resident rooms are orderly and clean.

Answers resident's call lights. Directs staff to answer call lights in a reasonable period of time.

Recognizes and reports changes in residents' condition.

Ensures that unit staff are providing care in accordance with the resident's care plan.

Monitor unit staffs compliance with infection control, standard precautions, handwashing, and safety policies.

Respects and adheres to the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services.
Salary : $32 - $35
