What are the responsibilities and job description for the Distribution Electrician position at Montana-Dakota Utilities Co?
Responsible for placing safety as #1 priority in day-to-day work routine for self and others. Additionally, performs and assists all duties associated with the testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, and inspection of electric distribution equipment and facilities. Responds to and assists with emergencies, scheduled and unscheduled overtime, after hour calls, and customer complaints. Nothing in this job summary restricts management’s right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school education with an associate degree in electrical technology or equivalent work experience acceptable to the Company.
Requires a strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently.
Must be able to perform all the essential functions required of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Must take all measures necessary to protect networks, devices, programs and data from cyber-attack, damage or unauthorized access.
Must successfully complete the applicable Apprenticeship Training Program.
Requires travel: Extensive (50% and over).
Subject to the Company’s DOT Substance Abuse Testing Program.
May be required to maintain a valid driver's license.
Subject to Pre-employment Drug Testing Policy and Background Check.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Qualified Distribution Electrician with a background in electrical distribution substation and associated line distribution equipment.
Strong skills with reading and interpreting electrical wiring diagrams, testing of electronic equipment, wiring, computer, and math skills.
An understanding of three-phase electrical theory, communication equipment understanding or background, and experience with structural steel blueprints.
Highly motivated self-starter with good written/oral communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
The successful candidate must have a strong commitment to exceed the needs of the customer and grow the Company’s regulated and non-regulated businesses.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for testing, construction, maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, and inspection of electric distribution equipment and facilities.
Maintains all related documentation to comply with Company procedures and federal guidelines.
Perform other tasks and special projects as assigned.
