Duties and Responsibilities
  • Working to build relationships with prospective students, high school counselors, teachers, and others on an information-sharing basis
  • Maintaining current knowledge of university academic programs and admissions standards
  • Traveling extensively (approximately 25 weeks out of the year) from August through May; travel includes in-state and out-of-state destinations
  • Providing campus tours to prospective students and their families as well as assisting prospective students through the application and admission process
  • Processing official documents as needed
  • Entering data
  • Using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software for student contact management and communication
  • Assisting with on-campus programs including representing MSU-Northern at university and community events.


In addition, this position
  • Uses Banner for data processing
  • Works with other institutional departments to keep current about academic program information, departmental policies and procedures, and student activities
  • Works with institutional committees
  • Performs other duties to support the mission and goals of the institution
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree, OR
  • Associate’s degree with work experience that demonstrates excellent communication skills
  • Current and valid Montana driver’s license or the ability to obtain one within a month of hire


Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
1. Experience working with students on campus or with other organizations
2. Knowledge or experience using Banner or similar database
3. Knowledge or experience using Anthology Reach or a similar CRM
4. Experience planning and coordinating projects and events
5. Demonstrated excellent communications skills
6. Sales experience

  • Have the ability and willingness to work extended hours including some evenings and weekends (Travel is required for this position which can occasionally be extensive)

  • Possess the ability to multi-task and problem solve innovatively
  • Represent the department and the university in a professional manner at college fairs, high school visits, community events, and other recruitment activities
  • Demonstrate effective time management skill and ability to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other software programs
