Under the leadership of the Chief Data Officer, University Data and Analytics (UDA) works collaboratively across the University community to support and expand the strategic use of data.
The Associate Chief Data Officer for Analytics and Data Science (Associate CDO) is an important leadership position in UDA and is a strategic partner to the chief data officer. The Associate CDO will work to develop an actionable, reliable, and effective system of data analysis, business intelligence, and data communication across the institution.

General Statement : As a technical and strategic leader, the Associate CDO will work closely with the Chief Data Officer and other leadership to understand and address the analytic and data science needs of the University. They will design business intelligence, data analytics, and other technical solutions that will serve to meet these needs and to increase the ability of those across the institution to access and analyze data. In their role, the Associate CDO will collaborate closely with the UDA data governance team to ensure that governance and warehousing solutions are implemented in an effective and efficient manner, and that solutions meet the technical and strategic needs of the institution.
The Associate CDO will oversee a team of technical analysts with deep expertise in leveraging tools to retrieve, process, and analyze University data. This team will interface extensively and often with the Data Partnering and Literacy team to provide accurate, value-added, and timely data-informed solutions to constituents and decision-makers across the institution.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide oversight and technical guidance for the development of reports, analytics deliverables, and business intelligence tools.
- Conceptualize and develop new reports and deliverables.
- Lead the Analytics and Data Science team, facilitate professional development, and mature the analytic capabilities of members of the staff.
- Identify opportunities for and work to implement automation and efficiencies of scale in the reporting functions of the office.
- Assess and analyze data requests to identify and execute large-scale institutional analysis and research projects, advanced statistical quantitative analysis, and recommendations to support and enhance business processes.
- In consultation with the Data Partnering and Literacy Team, determine data sources, help frame or refine related research questions, curate, and analyze data to facilitate data-informed responses to campus constituencies.
- Support data governance and data management processes, including development of policies and implementation of tools.
- Remain abreast of technical and industry trends to develop innovative methods for conveying information and enhancing data access and usage across the University.
- Oversee the institutional research and regulatory reporting calendar.
- Represent UDA on assigned campus committees and meetings.
- Serve as the acting Chief Data Officer in their absence.
