Special Education Supervisor

Responsibilities

The Special Education Supervisor leads and oversees the development, direction, coordination, and supervision of the Special Education Programs and Services run by Montcalm Area ISD.

Certifications/Qualifications:

1. Master Degree in Special Education or Administration.

2. Current Michigan K-12 administrator certification.

3. Michigan approval as a Supervisor of Special Education.

4. Eligible for State of Michigan approval or temporary approval as Supervisor of Special Education pursuant to Rule 340.1751.

5. Three years of experience in special education programs/services.

6. Prior administrative experience preferred.

7. Additional qualifications and alternatives to the above as the Board of Education may deem appropriate. 

Duties

• Develop and oversee individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with special needs.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external specialists to ensure effective implementation of IEPs.
• Provide academic advising and support to students, guiding them through their educational journey.
• Design and implement curriculum development initiatives tailored to meet the needs of diverse learners.
• Engage in instructional design to enhance teaching strategies for special education classrooms.
• Conduct assessments to evaluate student progress and adjust educational strategies as necessary.
• Facilitate training sessions for staff on best practices in special education and inclusive teaching methods.
• Maintain accurate records of student performance and compliance with educational regulations.
• Other duties as assigned by the Associate Superintendent of Special Education
