About the Role
Montecito Bank & Trust is seeking a full-time Business Banking Portfolio Manager to join the team in our Business Banking department. As a Business Banking Portfolio Manager, you will deliver a World Class Experience by providing excellent customer service to all internal and external clients. You will assist the Senior Portfolio Manager with the day-to-day credit process on accounts including credit write ups, criticized and classified loan reports, customer inquiries and deal closings; gathering financial information, preparing loan proposals, managing several aspects of the underwriting function, and have a key role in monitoring credit performance and documentation. Also responsible for the direction of the Financial Analyst and will work with loan review and regulatory agencies as required. The Portfolio Manager will assist the Relationship Managers with their account relationships as required. You will be located in Goleta, CA with the ability to work a hybrid schedule.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience required. Advanced degree preferred.
- Three years to five years of similar or related experience in commercial or private banking lending processes including underwriting, financial analytics, structuring and evaluation of credit worthiness required.
- The ability to be registered as a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) with the National Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLSR) required.
- In-depth knowledge of commercial banking credit policies and procedures, credit/financial analysis, loan structuring, cash flow analysis, accounting, and documentation skills.
- Ability to anticipate and interpret customer needs and provide solutions and negotiate effectively.
Your Responsibilities
The essential functions of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Underwrites and structures credit requests for new and existing loans through the analysis of financial statement projections, cash flow, and industry and trend data with the Bank’s credit policies within their assigned lending authority and if above their lending authority makes a recommendation to their supervisor.
- Manages the underwriting process including follow up directly with customers to obtain and provide analysis of additional information, recommend restructure of the loan request, and rewrite the credit write-up to incorporate changes in the loan structure.
- Ensures the ongoing soundness of the portfolio through diligent monitoring of credit performance including financial analysis review, compliance and collateral, delinquencies, and credit problems.
- Evaluates and opines on the customer’s financial performance and ability to meet debt service under various economic conditions and its potential credit risk.
- Accurately prepares all credit policy compliance forms and status reports on a timely basis.
- Accurately rates the credit “risk’ in conjunction with the Relationship Managers in accordance with the bank’s credit policy and maintains a satisfactory loan review rating.
