The Safety Coordinator will be responsible for partnering with the facility managers and coordinates the implementation of safety and environmental programs to minimize the risk of illness and injury in compliance with applicable regulations. Coordinates mandated safety and environmental training, maintains safety and environmental records and prepares reports for filing with regulatory agencies and insurance companies. Manages worker’s compensation cases. This position also must remain aware of applicable laws and regulations pertaining to safety compliance and share the information with the management team.

Business Planning:
Collaborate with management to develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs and initiatives aligned with organizational goals.
Create annual safety plans, including training schedules, safety audits, and risk assessments, ensuring compliance with regulatory and industry standards.
Identify key safety performance indicators (e.g., incident rates, near-miss reports, and training completion rates) and regularly report on progress toward goals.
Risk Assessment and Mitigation
Conduct hazard assessments and risk analyses to identify potential safety issues and implement corrective actions.
Develop and present safety improvement plans and business cases for risk mitigation projects.
Lead incident investigations to determine root causes and recommend preventive measures.
Training and Awareness
Design and deliver safety training programs for employees, contractors, and management to promote a culture of safety awareness and compliance.
Develop and distribute safety materials, such as manuals, guidelines, and visual aids, tailored to organizational needs.
Monitor the effectiveness of training programs and adjust content as necessary to address emerging risks and compliance changes.
Compliance and Auditing
Ensure all safety policies and procedures meet OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulatory requirements.
Lead safety audits and inspections, addressing any deficiencies promptly to maintain a safe work environment.
Monitor workplace conditions to ensure compliance with safety standards, including equipment, ergonomics, and chemical handling.
Stakeholder Management
Build strong relationships with employees, supervisors, contractors, and external agencies to foster collaboration on safety initiatives.
Act as the primary point of contact for safety-related inquiries and concerns, ensuring timely and effective resolutions.
Develop and maintain safety communication channels to keep all stakeholders informed about safety updates, initiatives, and performance metrics.
Compliance
Evaluate safety practices and protocols regularly, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing changes to enhance workplace safety.
Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices to ensure the organization’s safety program remains proactive and effective.

What are we looking for?
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
2–4 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment with responsibility for safety programs and compliance.
Exceptional communication and training delivery skills; Bilingual English/Spanish
Expertise in workplace safety plan development, regulatory alignment, and incident investigation.
Strong skills in data analysis, risk management, and corrective action planning.
Knowledge of OSHA standards, emergency response planning, and safety compliance requirements.
Proficiency in computer tools for safety reporting and presentations, including Excel.
Dependable, proactive, and motivated with a commitment to fostering a safety-first culture.
Develop, implement, and update safety policies and procedures to comply with OSHA, Tennessee Workers' Compensation Laws, and other regulations.
Conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments, ensuring consistent application of safety measures.
Deliver safety training sessions and maintain training records to meet organizational and regulatory requirements.
Maintain essential safety documents, such as SDS, accident logs, and facility maps.
Investigate workplace incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
Oversee programs related to hazardous energy control, lockout/tag-out, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Support safety improvement initiatives, including ergonomics and behavior-based safety (BBS) programs.
Track and report safety metrics and maintain a departmental safety scorecard.
Lead the Safety Committee and coordinate the 6S Program.
Serve as a safety consultant for new equipment installations.
