Job Description / Essential Elements :

JOB DEFINITION :

The classroom teacher is responsible for classroom instruction in areas for which the teacher is credentialed and authorized to teach. The teacher assesses student needs in relation to curriculum objectives and applies a program consistent with identified learning needs, curriculum objectives, and instructional materials, using appropriate teaching strategies, and assessing student progress. Creates and manages a teaching environment conducive to student learning and communicates regularly with parents regarding student academic and social progress. Provides supervision of all students during designated hours, and if assigned, during before and after school activities. The teacher shall be held accountable for the safety and welfare of all students. Assists in planning and implementing parent involvement activities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education :

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • An appropriate California teaching credential.

Experience :

  • Successful experience teaching in grades K-12 is recommended.
  • Knowledge of :

  • District and State content standards for students
  • Effective classroom management techniques.
  • Curriculum, instruction, and assessment processes and how they should operate in an effective school.
  • Applicable sections of State Education Code and other applicable state publications, such as curriculum frameworks.
  • Technology and computer software applications relative to instruction and administration.
  • California Standards for the Teaching Profession.
  • Requirements / Qualifications

  • Credential Copy (One of the following must be submitted : Valid Designated Subjects Career Technical Education Teaching Credential - Building and Construction Trades )

    The Monterey Peninsula Unified School District is looking for a progressive, talented and passionate Construction Trades Instructor at Monterey Adult School. Monterey Adult School serves students who desire an alternative high school setting This position will focus on teaching pre-apprentice skills in the construction trades with an emphasis on adult basic skills.

    Our ideal candidate is someone who is focused on equitable educational opportunities, desires to work with underserved students, and seeks to be involved in shifting the life trajectories of our students. We are also looking for someone who is flexible, positive and embodies the growth mindset. Some of our students are systems involved and need someone with the experience, love, and knowledge required to support them.

    The position envisioned for the school year involves 10 hours per week. (Days / Hours to be determined). We are hoping to employ someone who understands the importance of building positive relationships with students and who has a proven track record of working with students who have not succeeded in traditional environments.
