Montessori Children’s House (MCH) is seeking a warm, empathetic assistant teacher who has experience with preschool aged children to join our Pre-Primary classroom for a maternity leave position this spring.
The position is full-time (5 days a week), although temporary for maternity leave.
The position is flexible in that it may start in early April and would extend through mid-June, with the possibility to apply for summer session/camp coverage as well.
MCH, founded in 1976, is located in the beautiful and historical small city of Providence, RI, and boasts a diverse community of learners.
We are looking for a self-directed, highly motivated, and open minded individual. Our Pre-Primary program is for children ages 2.5-3 years old, and is meant to foster independence and develop foundational skills before children move into our Primary and Elementary programs.
First and foremost, each teacher and staff member of MCH is responsible for creating an environment of peace, learning and respect, and to foster a love of learning. Our Pre-Primary teacher would only be teaching children aged 2.5 -3 years old, and must have a strong understanding of the child development and needs of this age group.
Classroom teacher expectations include daily duties such as classroom management and support, some lesson presentations, record keeping, and regular communication with families. Our entire teaching team works together to create an environment that aligns with the Montessori pedagogy. It is expected that classroom teachers will provide an authentic Montessori educational program and that they will cooperate fully with the Head of School and curriculum coordinator in matters of curriculum, pedagogy, and all other classroom matters.
All MCH staff members represent the School, and are expected to uphold the Schools values and AMS Code of Ethics. Staff members must also adhere to all DHS child care licensing requirements and policies.
