What are the responsibilities and job description for the Montessori Lead Guide position at Montessori in the Pines?
Montessori in the Pines (MITP) is a small, community oriented Montessori preschool and kindergarten program located in the heart of Bend, Oregon. The school has low student to teacher ratios and a wonderfully supportive community. The program combines authentic Montessori practice with a farm-school approach to foster independence and sustainable leadership through a hands-on learning environment. MITP also aims to uphold a culturally responsive and anti-racist approach to education.
MITP is looking for a warm, lively, and responsible lead teacher to join the team. A preferred candidate is AMI or AMS trained and anchors their practice in Montessori principles. The ideal candidate will be kind, empathetic, and personable. They will be dedicated to crafting a beautiful, well-ordered, and detail driven Montessori environment based on the developmental needs of the individual children in their care.
Montessori in the Pines believes in the importance of community and expects lead guides to work in partnership with families and staff for the benefit of the children. Guides and assistants shall work as partners who bring their unique strengths to the work environment. The expectation is that lead guides will take on an important mentorship role to aid assistants in developing their understanding of Montessori pedagogy while allowing them to share their talents and interests with the students.
Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Benefits include healthcare and professional learning stipends, paid holidays and sick days, and employee tuition discounts. The position includes 5 weeks of paid vacation built into the school calendar. This is a full-time salaried position (40 hours per week).
