About Us: Montessori School of Louisville, is a thriving non-profit Montessori school in Louisville, KY, dedicated to fostering a love of learning and nurturing the unique potential of each child. MSL is the only Montessori school in Kentucky to hold dual accreditation from AMS and Cognia. We are seeking a passionate and experienced Montessori Lead Teacher to guide and inspire our students in a vibrant and supportive learning environment.
About the Role: As a Montessori Lead Teacher, you will be the primary guide for a classroom of Early Childhood (3-6 years), Lower Elementary (6-9 years), Upper Elementary (9-12 years), Middle School (13-15 years) students, responsible for creating a prepared environment, implementing the Montessori curriculum, and fostering a positive and engaging learning experience. You will also serve as a Montessori advocate and leader for our teaching team, ensuring high-quality instruction and a consistent Montessori approach.
Responsibilities:
Montessori Expertise:
- Thoroughly understand and implement the Montessori philosophy and curriculum.
- Prepare and maintain a well-organized, aesthetically pleasing, and child-centered learning environment.
- Guide students in selecting and using Montessori materials, fostering independence and self-directed learning.
- Observe, assess, and document student progress, tailoring instruction to individual needs.
- Collaborate with parents and other staff members to support student development.
Leadership & Mentorship:
- Lead and mentor a team of teachers, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of school-wide policies and procedures.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events.
- Maintain open and effective communication with parents and the school administration.
Classroom Management:
- Manage classroom activities effectively, ensuring a safe and engaging learning environment.
- Maintain a positive and respectful classroom culture.
- Model appropriate behavior and social skills for students.
- Address any behavioral issues in a calm and constructive manner.
Qualifications:
- Montessori Teacher Credential or willingness to complete training within (required)
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field (preferred)
- Proven experience as a Montessori teacher
- Strong understanding of child development and learning principles
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Passion for the Montessori philosophy and a commitment to creating a positive learning , collaborative environment
