WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The Office of Eligibility Support Services (OESS) is currently recruiting for an enthusiastic professional to serve in the Government Assistance Eligibility Specialist (GAES III) position and help us achieve our mission. What You'll Be Doing
The position will be responsible for creating presentations and conducting trainings on various Maryland Medicaid programs, such as Long-Term Care, Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGD, Non-Modified Adjusted Gross Income and Public Assistance to Adults (PAA), Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) and County Health Programs (CHP).
- The position will interpret eligibility laws, rules and procedures to improve and develop case management practices and techniques.
- The GAES III will assist with the MA-LTC unit in all aspects of the appeal process to include receiving the appeals, obtaining the files, reviewing them for correct application of policies, writing summaries, appearing at hearings, and taking action.
- The incumbent is also responsible for conducting first-level reviews on actions taken by case managers for all Maryland Medicaid programs, Public Assistance to Adults (PAA) and County Health Programs using the Enrollment and Eligibility (E&E), Electronic Integrated Case Management (eICM), and Maryland Health Connection (MHC) systems.
- The incumbent will also complete monthly compliance for the unit.
- The GAES III acts as a customer service liaison with internal and external customers such as nursing homes and hospitals as well as Primary Care Coalition and Trinity Health Care.
- The position will also provide quality customer service, and complete and resolve complex cases as the need arises. The incumbent will assist other OESS units during staff vacancies.
- Duties may change based on operational needs.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree.
Experience: Two (2) years of experience as a journey level specialist in determining eligibility or two (2) years of equivalent work experience.
Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted
Preferred Criteria, Interview Preferences
We will use interview preference criteria
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience determining eligibility for Maryland Medicaid and Family Investment Program to include MA-LTC.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience applying Federal, State, County and COMAR regulations pertaining to eligibility of multiple financial and/or medical assistance programs.
- Expert knowledge of automated eligibility systems and databases directly related to public assistance programs
- Experience providing and conducting technical training, professional development, and outreach presentations.
- High knowledge related to the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work with culturally and linguistically diverse population and provide results-driven by customer service
