The anticipated salary upon hire at Grade N18: $60,513 - $88,364

This Position Is Open Only To

  • Current Montgomery County Government employees;
  • Montgomery County employees who were affected by reduction-in-force and currently have RIF priority rights;
  • Active Montgomery County local fire and rescue department volunteers with at least 50 points under the length of service award program; or
  • Active Montgomery County Customized Employment Public Interns, QUEST Interns, Project SEARCH Interns or former Montgomery County Customized Employment Public Interns, QUEST Interns, or Project SEARCH Interns within 24 months of completion of internship.

Who We Are Looking For

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Office of Chief Operating Officer, Human Capital Mgmt. & Organizational Development is recruiting for an Human Resources Administrative Specialist I that will support HR operations for Health and Human Services which has over 2,000 positions.

What You'll Be Doing

In tandem, with existing DHHS/HR staff, the Human Resources Administrative Specialist I participates in all aspects of the onboarding process for new hires and transfers to include the facilitation of DHHS Orientation. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Completing the off-boarding process for all terminations, including resignations, retirements, and other separations. Manages the HHS merit and promotional probationary process for all new and promotional employees.
  • Responsible for the facilitation of the DHHS Transfer Line.
  • Working with the HHS HR manager on probationary issues and documents.
  • Assisting with the management of Multilingual status updates, temporary promotions, and bypass requests.
  • Running HHS HR reports from Oracle and other HR systems to track the timely completion of required training, validating position attributes, and performing performance management.
  • Working with the Employee Recognition and Celebration Committee.
  • Contributing to the overall function and success of the DHHS.
  • Performing other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree.

Experience: One (1) year of professional administrative experience in Human Resources/Personnel Administration.

Substitutions

  • EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE : Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION : Additional administrative, business, research and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
