Education: Master’s degree in library science or library information science from a college or university accredited by the American Library Association.
Applicants working toward the master’s degree will be considered. Candidates will need to present an official transcript showing the degree has been earned before their first day of appointment.

Licensure: Employees will be responsible for maintaining appropriate level of Continuing Education Units (Contact Hours) to sustain State licensure requirements for this position.

- Promote and support MCPL’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion values with staff and customers. Centers the experiences of people and communities who are most affected by structural inequities when engaging in programming, partnerships, and information services work.
- Provide professional librarian assistance in person and by telephone or chat to children in locating print and electronic information resources, books, audiobooks, videos, and other resources.
- Plan and present programs for specific ages.
- Assist in weeding and merchandising materials in the branch collection.
- Recommend titles for purchase or replacement.
- Provide one-to-one computer instruction and assistance as needed.
- Participate on committees, and workgroups for projects, and initiatives for the library system.
- Library hours of operation are 7 days a week including nights, days, and weekends. Employees are expected to be available for work during these times. Individual schedules, including nights and weekends, will vary based on branch operational needs.
