SUMMARY
The Education Coordinator is responsible for coordinating with the Education Supervisor to provide educational content to both internal and external stakeholders of MCHD. This position requires the personal skills to be an effective communicator to contribute to the learning development of all participants. The Education Coordinator will work collaboratively with all partners to ensure that the educational goals of the organization are achieved.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Collaboratively provides education to internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate advanced skills labs, mass courses, verify enrollment, and handle employee updates.
- Administration of educational applications to include Vector Solutions or current LMS, Handtevy or similar application, Castlebranch EMT documentation software or equivalent, and Polischool or current equivalent software.
- Collaboratively work with the Education Supervisor and lead EMT instructor to maintain EMS course and clinical grading and scheduling.
- Coordinate certification classes, instruct MCHD educational classes as assigned, and develop training schedules and education calendars.
- Assist with coordination of education and content delivery for new hire employees.
- Conduct audits, manage credentials, and maintain course archives.
- Monitor all position specific certification requirements, consisting of but not limited to TDSHS Certification, Texas Driver License, CPR, ACLS, PALS and PHTLS (or equivalent certifications).
- Maintain iSimulate units, facilitate equipment maintenance, and track loaned equipment.
- Ensure appropriate organization, maintenance, and care of all educational equipment and supplies.
- Spend 8 hours per month in the field on an ambulance or observing
- Maintain field credentialing as a PRN field employee, you may engage in patient care and this requirement may also be met by filling vacancies as the second crewmember. This 12 hours may also count toward your monthly 8-hour requirement.
- Field time for credentialed employees beyond the 8 hour monthly requirement and outside of their normal scheduled administrative hours should be clocked-in for that assignment and will be adjusted to Department Rate Overtime (DRO)
- These hours may only be clocked-in and paid at DRO as an active second crewmember that is filling a vacancy and not as a third rider.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Texas Department of State Health Services EMT-P or LP
- Previous education/teaching experience to small and large groups required
- Currently in good standing within all departments of MCHD if internal candidate
- Ability to obtain Attendant Paramedic clinical authorization within a time frame determined by the Education Supervisor and Division Chief – Clinical.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Moderate word processing, database, presentation, and spreadsheet skills required.
- Basic email and internet skills required.
- Ability to learn specific job related software applications.
- Ability to maintain high-performance organization practices and planning habits to coordinate various programs.
- People-centric, customer service practices required.
- General understanding of EMS operational software (Agency 360, Slate, etc).
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Texas Department of State Health Services EMT-Paramedic or Licensed Paramedic certification required.
- EMS Instructor or obtain within 6 months of accepting job offer.
- Obtain and maintain certifications as necessitated by positional requirements within a timeframe agreed upon by the Education Supervisor.
- Current Texas Driver’s License required.
- Remain insurable by the current insurance vendor of MCHD.
- Required NIMS Training as referenced in the Safety & Emergency Management Policy SEM 27-201.
- Will obtain and maintain certifications as necessitated by positional requirements.
