TITLE: Make Ready Technician
DEPARTMENT: Materials Management
REPORTS TO: Materials Management Manager
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
SUMMARY
The ambulance make-ready tech is responsible for assuring that designated ambulances are ready for service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Pre-check ambulances for service readiness as per Field Operations check-list and inventory list and make corrections as needed. This includes:
- Prep unit coming out of fleet or returned from outside service or prepping units to go for outside service.
- Keep reserves ready for duty.
- Decontamination and cleaning of exterior and interior of the vehicle.
- Inventory and restock of medical supplies; medical equipment.
- Perform vehicular mechanical readiness check-off list - fluids, tires, lights, turn signals, fuel, etc.
- Notifications to mechanics shop of mechanical malfunctions/deficiencies discovered during check-out. Report missing/broken medical equipment to proper Material Management personnel. Return excess inventory supplies and equipment to Materials Management warehouse.
- Perform Saturday backboard pick up for area hospitals.
- Assist materials management and/or fleet staff with special projects.
- Assist with physical inventories when needed.
- Other duties as deemed necessary. Including being available for emergency call-in and extend on duty hours for disaster preparedness and operations.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of EMS equipment and supplies or demonstration of ability to learn said supplies and equipment at an acceptable rate during the 90 day probation period.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Basic computer and e-mail user skills helpful.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Current Texas Driver’s License.
- Remain insurable by the current insurance vendor of MCHD.
