Job Description:
The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) is responsible for organizing and conducting physical therapy programs planned and overseen by the Physical Therapist to facilitate rehabilitation of residents who have experienced a decrease in functions.
The PTA will assist in planning, organizing, developing, and implementing Physical Therapy services under the supervision of the Physical Therapist to ensure the highest degree of quality resident care at all times.
Responsibilities:
- Perform treatment programs for assigned residents.
- Enter billing information in an accurate and timely manner.
- Report resident progress in meetings, such as UR Meetings and Patient/Family Conferences, as deemed required or appropriate.
- Consult with other members of the rehabilitation team to coordinate physical therapy with other therapeutic activities.
- Provide residents with equipment as appropriate.
- Chart notes in an informative and descriptive manner that reflects the therapy provided to residents and their response to the therapy.
- Perform routine documentation as required and in accordance with our established charting and documentation policies and procedures. Sign and date all entries made in residents' medical records.
- Cooperate with all departments and staff to facilitate harmonious working conditions and promote optimal resident care.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited school of Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA).
- Licensed in New York State as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA); license in good standing.
- Previous skilled nursing facility experience is highly preferred.
- Ability to work well under pressure and willingness to work harmoniously with all staff.
- Sincere desire to work with the elderly, chronically ill, and handicapped.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to communicate well verbally with residents, families, and staff.
- Treat residents and fellow staff with respect, dignity, and compassion.
