POSITION SUMMARY
The Breakdown Support Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the coordination and resolution of vehicle breakdowns and emergency maintenance incidents. This role ensures timely and effective responses to roadside issues, minimizing vehicle downtime and maintaining operational efficiency. The supervisor works closely with drivers, maintenance teams, and external service providers to provide rapid support, troubleshoot issues, and implement preventive measures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate with drivers, maintenance technicians, and third-party service providers to ensure timely repairs and vehicle recovery.
Maintain a breakdown response log, documenting incidents, actions taken, and resolutions.
Develop and implement efficient procedures for breakdown handling to minimize operational disruptions.
Provide guidance and troubleshooting support to breakdown support team & drivers over the phone or via electronic communication tools.
Keep operations and dispatch teams informed of breakdown statuses and estimated repair timelines.
Ensure clear communication between all stakeholders, including fleet managers, mechanics, and external vendors.
Work with the maintenance team to analyze breakdown trends and identify recurring issues.
Assist in planning and scheduling preventive maintenance to reduce the frequency of breakdowns.
Recommend improvements to fleet maintenance strategies based on breakdown data and analysis.
Ensure compliance with safety and operational policies related to vehicle repairs and roadside assistance.
Maintain relationships with third-party towing, repair, and roadside assistance providers.
Ensure service providers meet company standards in response time, cost efficiency, and quality of work.
Review and process invoices from vendors, ensuring accuracy and cost control.
Prepare reports on breakdown incidents, response times, repair costs, and overall performance.
Maintain accurate records of vehicle downtime and repair histories.
Create purchase orders as well as maintaining other internal data using maintenance computer software
Secure service for road repairs.
Respond to after-hours service calls as required.
Assist in training and coaching new and existing breakdown support team members.
Issue PO#s and issue TCH payment of Road Call Breakdown, Tows and Hotels.
Independently use reasoning skills to determine proper course of action in regard to maintenance issues.
Other duties as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelors degree in a related field (transportation, automotive technology, business management) is a plus.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in supervisory or team leadership role.
Technical Knowledge: Understanding of vehicle maintenance, diagnostics, and repair procedures.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
Ability to work under pressure and respond to emergencies efficiently.
Proficiency in fleet management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
