Job Description
As the Director of Strategic Philanthropy, you will play a critical role in advancing our mission by securing major gifts from individual donors, corporations, and foundations. Your expertise in donor cultivation, portfolio management, and campaign coordination will drive our fundraising efforts forward.
- Develop and implement donor cultivation strategies to identify and qualify new donors.
- Manage a portfolio of high-net-worth individuals, ensuring timely and effective communication, and solicitation of gifts.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director, museum trustees, and other staff to plan and execute special fundraising campaigns.
- Develop and track solicitations, stewardship assignments, and donor visits to ensure successful gift closures.
- Write proposals, create campaign documents, and leverage current planned giving vehicles strategically.
- Ensure proper gift recording, acknowledgment, and reporting.
- Integrate individual giving with corporate and foundation giving initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree and CFRE certification preferred.
- 5 years of Individual Giving experience with a strong background in major gifts fundraising, donor strategy development, and portfolio management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated success in face-to-face solicitation and closing major gifts.
- 3 years of donor research and profile development experience, with familiarity with donor databases and gift entry.
- Demonstrated success in planning, coordinating, and closing major capital, special, and comprehensive campaigns.
- Superior writing skills, with ability to craft persuasive case statements, proposals, and solicitation letters.
- Excellent computer skills, with fluency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and social media platforms.
- Familiarity with donor research databases, LexisNexis platforms, and Foundation Center.
- Comfortable working independently, yet also able to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with ability to handle multiple deadlines and priorities.

The Montshire Museum of Science offers a competitive salary range of $85,000 - $100,000, depending on skills, education, credentials, and experience.
