POSITION TITLE
Assistant Principal—Monument Valley High School
QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid Arizona State Principal’s Certificate.
- Master’s degree in education or related field.
- Five years of successful teaching experience required.
- Fifteen (15) hour of State approved Structured English Immersion (SEI) coursework.
- Valid Arizona State Fingerprint Clearance Card required.

JOB GOAL
Assumes the role of the assistant principal of the school and assists the principal by using leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills to promote the educational development of each student and the professional development of staff members.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists the principal in the overall administration of the school.
- Serves as the assistant principal of the school.
- Serves as principal in the absence of the principal.
- Assists the principal in building maintenance and improvement.
- Coordinates the use of facilities.
- Assists in the supervision and evaluation of certified and classified staff.
- Assumes responsibilities for coordinating transportation, custodial, cafeteria, and other support services.
- Serves with parents, faculty, and student groups as requested in advancing educational and related activities and objectives.
- Assists in the interpretation of school District programs, policies, and procedures to students, parents, staff, and community.
- Oversees all matters of registration, classification, scheduling, and grade reporting of students.
- Cooperates in the conducting of safety inspections and safety drill practice activities.
- Oversees all matters of student attendance including supervising home-school liaison, attendance clerk, and registrar.
- Works to prevent students from dropping out of school.
- Manages all student behavior problems in a fair and just manner, and maintains records of any disciplinary action taken, advises administrators and faculty on matters of student discipline.
- Confers with parents, teachers, counselors, support service personnel, and students on matters of discipline, welfare, and academic achievement.
- Shares with the principal the responsibility for protecting the health and welfare of the students.
- Serves as liaison between the schools and such public health and social service agencies as have occasion to work with or for the schools including handling of problems relating to substance abuse and truancy from school.
- Assists with campus control and security.
- Assists with supervisory responsibility for student activities, programs of student orientation, and similar activities.
- Assists in the development, maintenance, and distribution of student calendars, handbooks, schedules, bulletins, and the like.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Eleven (11) months a year at Grade 2 on the Initial Placement Administrative Salary Schedule. The Governing Board will establish salary and work year.

The performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on the Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
