Connecticut law firm seeks a skilled and experienced Human Resources Manager to join the leadership team. The Firm needs a dynamic individual to build out a high-performing HR department. Reporting to the management committee and the Director of Operations/HR, the Human Resources Manager will be key to maintaining a positive tone for the Firm. From employee relations to payroll to compliance issues, the HR Manager helps ensure that human resources runs smoothly, efficiently, and with minimal disruption.

Duties and responsibilities of the Human Resources ManagerPartner with management and partners to ensure strategic HR goals are aligned with business initiatives
Work collaboratively and effectively with other directors, managers, marketing and finance contributing to a high-performing management team.
Manage the staffing process, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, professional orientation, training, counseling, and offboarding
Ensure job descriptions are up to date and compliant with all local, state and federal regulations
Develop training materials and performance management programs to help ensure employees understand their job responsibilities
Analyze trends in compensation and benefits; manage a compensation strategy for staff employees based on market research and pay surveys; keep the strategy up to date
Investigate employee issues and conflicts and bring them to resolution
Ensure the organization’s compliance with local, state and federal regulations
Use performance management tools to provide guidance and feedback to staff members
Ensure all company HR policies are applied consistently, update policies and procedures as needed
Oversee HR Generalist in maintaining organizational charts and employee directory, and all other generalist duties
Oversee benefits administration and leaves of absence policies and procedures
Maintain HR systems, process and employee handbooks
Conduct staff performance and salary reviews
Provide counseling, support and guidance to staff
Design and implement employee retention strategies
Work with attorneys on staffing needs, production and workflow processes

Ability to research and analyze various types of HR data and compile high-quality reports, proposals, presentations, and other documents for senior management
Ability to think and act both strategically and tactically
Knowledge and execution of best practices in managing a human resources department.
Ability to conduct responsibilities fairly and discreetly and with decorum; strict adherence to confidentiality practices
Knowledge of HR software and proper data management of personnel files, requirements and information
Ability to manage and mentor HR Generalist and other staff members
Maintain a high level of staff morale through recognitions, rewards, incentives, events and other creative employee activities and initiatives
Develop and implement employee engagement initiatives to enhance job satisfaction and retention.
Coordinate with Attorney Recruitment team as necessary
Prepare headcount projections and identify staffing needs in alignment with firm objectives.
An understanding of the inter-workings of law firms, legal staff and paralegal job responsibilities, and other operational aspects in legal, such as time & billing, file management, workflow, and ethical requirements
Requirements – Human Resources Manager- 5 years of human resources management experience for a law firm with a minimum of 50 total personnel; law firm experience highly preferred
- HRIS database software skills and general computer proficiency
- Human Resources and Policies and Procedures expertise
- Working on-site
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, human resources management (preferred), or related work equivalent to that in the legal industry; an advanced degree or HR certification is a plus. (SHRM, CLM)
The Firm offers a salary range of $110,000 – $120,000, commensurate with the candidate's qualifications, credentials, references, and job history. The Firm also offers medical, dental and vision insurance, life and disability insurance, 401(k) plan and match, a generous family leave program, ample free parking, and a bonus program.
