JOB SUMMARY:
The Cafe in the Park Food Runner is authorized to expo food from the hot line and deliver food to tables in the restaurant, pool bar, and lobby bar. During down time they will also assist with cleaning tables and restocking items in the kitchen.
POSITION AUTHORITY:
The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below.
POSITION GUIDELINES:
Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives. The incumbent is expected to exercise sound, reasonable judgment and initiative, and give high priority to accuracy and details in the performance of job responsibilities.
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist with quickly clear dirty table settings and prepare table for resetting
- delivering food to the restaurant, pool bar, and lobby bar
- Promptly and consistently reset all service ware as prescribed
- Maintain stock and cleanliness of stations for all meal periods with necessary equipment including silverware, linen, and condiments
- Serve guests with beverages, bread, and butter to begin their dining experience and replenish as necessary
- Transport all dirty tableware from dining room to dishwashing area for proper cleaning
- Fold napkins for all meal periods throughout the day to maintain an adequate supply
- Any and all other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve the needs of Moody Gardens
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Prior hospitality/server experience preferred
- Must obtain TABC & Food Handlers Certification prior to beginning work
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Must be reliable and responsible
- Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation, service standards, guest relations and etiquette
- Knowledge of the appropriate table settings and service ware
- Ability to read, listen, and communicate in English both verbally and in writing
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to grasp, lift, carry, or otherwise transport up to 50 pounds through a crowded room
- Ability to move or push goods on a hand card weighing a maximum of 200 pounds
- Ability to stand, and/or walk continuously throughout shift
- Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, and kneeling
