SPORTING CLAYS RANGE SUPERVISOR:
The Sporting Clays Range Supervisor’s essential role is to work in conjunction with the range manager to support sporting clays instructors to execute high quality shooting experiences for members and invited guests. They supervise the sporting clays instructors and assist in providing a high quality, positive, and safe shooting experiences for all participants. They supervise and assist setting up the clay shooting range and ensuring the equipment is in good working order and properly set up. They answer member/guest questions and assist as needed to ensure a unique, fun, safe outdoor experience for members and their guests.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Oversees the sporting clays yurt, maintains stock of targets and ammunition.
- Coordinates lessons, self-guided sporting clays, and member events/competitions.
- Coordinate reservations.
- Schedule, training, and coach instructors.
- Assign lessons.
- Oversee the range facilities.
- Assign instructor duties.
- Track equipment use and supply inventories.
- Safely operate firearms.
- Provide personalized shooting instruction for members and guest.
- Safely operate XUVs on and off road.
- Facilitate member events.
- Assist checking in members in for lessons.
- Restock clay launchers.
- Wash and fuel XUVs daily.
- Other duties assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position is 40% in-office and 60% in the field. The typical day starts at 8:45am and ends at 6:15pm. Condition in the field are typical to those found in a summer mountain environment, working outdoors, exposed to the weather, and working in the snow, mud, dust, rain, hot or cold temperatures, with uneven and sometimes slippery surfaces. Exposure to the inherent hazards of the outdoors, including wildlife, such as indigenous bears, moose, mountain sheep, etc. Conditions in the field are typical to those found in southwest Montana during June through October.
When in the office the work environment is characterized as that found in a typical office environment, with moderate temperatures and noise levels. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
This is a physical demanding position that requires the incumbent to be able to perform the following activities efficiently and safely:
- Interact with others requiring employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information.
- Ability to stand, sit, walk, hike, for four to six hours a day indoors or outdoors as required.
- Bend at the waist, twist upper body, kneel, crawl, climb, reach above shoulders, flex and extend ankle, knee, and hip joints.
- Lift and carry up to 30 lbs., push and pull 10-20 lbs.
- Ability to move fingers and hands to operate and clean firearms, office equipment, clay shooting equipment, and other outdoor equipment.
- See and read manuals and documents.
- Ability to use hands and arms to carry heavy loads over uneven ground, set, place, restock, and repair/maintain clay shooting trap machines.
