Minimum Position Qualifications
- Five years (8 preferred) industry level experience.
- ASE Master Certification L1 (or automotive OEM equivalent training, i.e. - Ford Senior Master Technician, and a willingness to obtain ASE certification)
- Associates Degree is required (or exceptional experience and a willingness to attain a degree)
Job Description
- Plan, prepare, and deliverinstruction of automotive technology in alignment with ASE Education Foundation standards and course objectives.
- Instructional areas include Fundamentals plus the 8 core ASE Automotive Areas (Engine Repair, Automatic Transmission, Manual Transmission, Suspension & Steering, Brakes, Electrical, HVAC, and Engine Performance). Additional instruction in the areas of Advanced Engine Performance, Hybrid/EV, and ADAS systems is also embedded within the training program.
- Provide educational leadership, work effectively with applicable advisory committees, community groups, faculty, administration, and campus support staff
- Manage classroom and shop/lab to ensure a productive and safe learning environment
- Ability to operate and maintain a working automotive shop environment along with the maintenance and service of required equipment
- Attend open house, career orientation, and explorations days, welcome days, team meetings, and activities, and recruitment as required.
Essential and Other Duties
- Complete 20 hours of approved technical update training annually
- Develop and continually revise curriculum that includes rigor, multicultural perspectives, core abilities, and technical content to meet industry and regulatory standards to prepare graduates for successful careers.
- Utilize engaging instructional strategies and methodologies which foster student success both inside and outside of the classroom
- Work closely with Moore Tech leadership in determining program effectiveness
- Provide assistance to college staff and other faculty when and where needed

Work Schedule
Monday -Friday (7:30-4:30 typical)
- May be required to work outside of normal working hours for special events or to meet an atypical departmental need.
- May be required to teach a night class
Tools and Equipment
- Use of equipment and tools used in automotive service for training (provided)
- Use of varied and typical office setting equipment
- PC and both common and proprietary computer software programs
Special Conditions
This position will assist the Moore Tech College to educate, train, engage, and empower students. Especially interested in candidates who, in addition to having a wealth of automotive technical knowledge, can effectively communicate and share that knowledge with students, works well both independently and collaboratively with others, adapts quickly to new technology, and is comfortable using a computer and mainstream office software such as Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
Physical Demands
General academic and industrial environment that will require standing, walking, or lifting up to 50lbs, use of a computer and keyboard, presentation system, as well as telecommunications system. Manual dexterity will be required to perform essential job functions. Visual acuity is required on a frequent basis to read, review and print electronic documents. Reaching and pushing/pulling with force of up to 50lbs will be required to complete essential job functions. Mobility of the candidate will be sufficient to allow moving about the shop/lab/office on an on-going basis. The physical demands must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
