What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grant Coordinator, Resource Development position at Moraine Valley Community College?
Under the direction of the Assistant Director, Resource Development, the Grant Coordinator assists grant teams with the development, writing and submission of grant proposals, reports, and other required grant proposal documents for projects that align with the college’s strategic priorities. This position also edits and proofreads grant proposals and reports ensuring these documents comply with the grants’ requirements. The Grant Coordinator is dedicated to the learning college concept by developing programs and facilitating activities that enhance the collegiate environment, promote access to college programs and services, and support student success and lifelong learning.

- Supports the Resource Development Team in all aspects of its work.
- Writes copy for grant proposals, grant reports, and other specific grant components per grant guidelines.
- Researches grant opportunities and prepares grant funding summaries.
- Collects and summarizes local, state, regional, and national data for use in grant proposals.
- Conducts interviews with employees that are interested in pursuing grants to collect information on the proposed grant project, and then prepares a budget and narrative that describes the project and complies with the grant format/guidelines.
- Provides creative ideas and input for grant proposals.
- Edits and proofreads grant proposals and grant reports.
- Develops and disseminates grant development timelines, and then monitors grant development progress to ensure timelines are met.
- Develops and implements systems to track grant expenditures.
- Provides grant workshops for current and potential grant managers.
- Interacts with grant funding agencies as needed.
- Writes and edits various types of correspondence.
- Daily work will involve creating budgets and presenting data using Excel.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Education/Experience
Bachelors degree in English, journalism, marketing, communications, education, or related field required.
Minimum three to five years (3-5) of experience in grant writing, grant operations, or related experience, preferably in an educational setting, required.

- Ability to produce appropriate materials under deadline pressure, meeting deadlines and following through on assignments.
- Excellent background in writing, interviewing and information gathering.
- Knowledge of effective grant writing techniques and strategies, including attention to compliance with specific grant guidelines.
- Self-starter with strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Outstanding oral/written communications skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Must be computer proficient, with experience on Microsoft Word, Excel and other software programs.
