Duties
Under general direction, the Senior Applications Developer is responsible for the design and support of administrative computer systems and reports. Performs all analytical and programming tasks needed to develop, implement and support these systems. Works closely with college personnel to monitor system day-to-day operation. Maintains contact with various system vendors to follow changes and enhancements. The Senior Applications Developer is dedicated to the learning college concepts by developing applications and facilitating activities that promote student success and lifelong learning. These duties include: Serving as primary contact with user departments for defining information needs, system enhancement needs, operations, testing and procedures. Performs technical tasks related to application and report development, testing and implementation. Prepares estimates and progress reports on assigned projects indicating time expended by projects, and provides correspondence with users. Assists other staff with analysis, test plans, and solutions to application problems. Makes modifications, corrections, and additions to existing applications and reports as defined by project specifications. Writes all necessary system, user, and operations documentation, and ensures that it is in compliance with production procedures and standards. Uses query or scripting programming language to extract data from a relational database. Provides technical and user support once the application or report is in production. Participates in and coordinates project and team meetings, as necessary, and performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have demonstrated analytical ability to logically approach applications; knowledge of operating system concepts and operation; knowledge of Web application development languages, such as HTML , XML , Java, ASP , .Net; knowledge of ODBC concepts as well as database query and scripting languages, specifically Oracle SQL and/or MS SQL ; knowledge of Ellucian Envision programming language, preferred; above average communication and organizational skills
