What are the responsibilities and job description for the Upper School Spanish Teacher 2025-26 School Year position at Moravian Academy?
Moravian Academy seeks a dynamic and innovative full-time Spanish teacher at the upper school on the Merle-Smith Campus. The Global Languages department aims to foster proficiency in the target language that goes beyond the classroom and that provides students the tools and knowledge to understand and communicate in the target language and function in target cultures.
Essential Functions:
- Teach four sections of Spanish within the global language department. Courses would potentially include introductory and intermediate Spanish and advanced electives.
- Support and further enhance the department's high expectations for academic performance, intellectual inquiry, and personal growth for all students in each course.
- Facilitate hands-on exploration and student collaboration, integrating student-centered pedagogical practices into the curriculum.
- Create meaningful partnerships with parents and families, including regular communications through school-supplied online tools, emails, and phone calls.
- Assess and provide feedback to students and parents during comment and grading periods.
- Assume duties including, but not limited to, serving as an advisor or co-advisor to a small group of students and taking on a fifth responsibility that benefits the student experience.
- Participate in professional collaboration and development, including committee work, chapel services, department meetings, and divisional faculty meetings.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree strongly preferred.
- Relevant teaching experience preferred, but not required.
- Proficiency in digital educational technologies.
- Experience with Google Workspace for Education (preferred)

Moravian Academy, located in historic Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, is a PK through 12th grade coeducational college preparatory school and the ninth oldest independent school in the United States. Founded in 1742, Moravian Academy continues to be a school in motion. After a recent merger with The Swain School, Moravian Academy comprises 900 students and 200 employees. The extensive facilities are located on three campuses which together are the premier choice for independent education in the Lehigh Valley region. - The Historic Downtown Campus for Grades P-8 inside the national historic landmark district that is at the heart of the City of Bethlehem;
