The Opportunity
More Than Words (MTW) seeks a Mobile Business Training Manager (BTM) with a creative, results-oriented business mind to coach and train young people to create an incredible customer service experience, hit earned revenue goals, and promote the mission and business of MTW while connecting with the community. The Mobile Retail Business Training Manager will enhance the customer engagement experience and has a passion for working with young adults to move their lives forward through a social enterprise. The Mobile BTM supports youth individually to learn customer service skills, inventory management, professionalism and engagement in a business setting using “compassionate accountability” through job coaching. As MTW is committed to using data to improve performance and results, the Mobile BTM is responsible for accurate and timely data tracking and for incorporating data inquiry as a critical learning tool to improve practice and programs.
The Full-Time Mobile Retail Business Training Manager will work with MTW’s Operations and Business Development Departments to grow and codify the mobile retail and pop-up shop experience that will enable MTW to grow its community reach, generate revenue for our social enterprise and teach and train young people customer service. The employee will work collectively with the adult and youth retail team, as well as independently, to build partnerships with companies and organizations to host pop up shops that build brand awareness. This position will report to the Associate Director of Retail.
Key responsibilities of this position include:
- Job Coaching - Providing an additional job training opportunity for More Than Words program youth to gain additional skill development in design, marketing and customer service. Maintaining and improving the training program that helps develop customer service and sales training skills for program youth specific to our pop-up and mobile retail truck model.
- Marketing and Brand Building - Display, schedule, revenue forecasts, and youth job skills training. Build awareness of pop-up or mobile sales and community event locations while building an engaged community through social media
- Earned Revenue Tracking - Timely tracking of data on all revenue streams through pop-ups and our mobile book truck resulting in equal or greater than 200K budget and reporting out sales, popularity of markets and inventory. Research and strategically align product selection for pop-ups from targeted revenue and customer profile
Key Qualifications:
- Safely operate MTW Fleet Vehicles including Mobile Retail Truck during transit to and from site locations
- Research, register, and build schedule calendar for desired pop-up shop and mobile truck residency locations – i.e., farmers markets, craft fairs, vacant store fronts, community events, corporations, etc
- This position is cross trained for Boston Retail operations to provide coverage for onsite Retail Shifts, working with 2-5 young people to provide customer service, merchandising, and inventory management assistance
- Manage book cart and mobile pop-up locations
- Proficient with Microsoft applications
- A flexible schedule, including some nights and weekends is required based on the Pop-up schedule and the needs of the organization
Driving Requirements:
- This is a non CDL Position
- Must have obtained driver’s license at least 3 years prior to meet insurance requirements
- Must have a safe driving record in accordance with insurance requirements
- Successfully complete MTW’s Level 1 Driver Training course, MTW’s pick-up and load training, hold a valid driver’s license with no major traffic violations, and pass a required medical physical to obtain a Massachusetts DOT medical card
Schedule: flexible with seasonality, weekend availability is required
Compensation: $52,000-$57,749, commensurate with skills and experience.
