FOCUS: Official Score Keeper
The Morehead City Marlins (mhcmarlins.com) are one of the most successful teams in the Coastal Plain League which provides collegiate players the opportunity to play competitively in a wood-bat league during the summer months in front of professional scouts, while also providing the local community with an affordable summer entertainment destination everyone can enjoy.
The Marlins play at Big Rock Stadium which is undergoing renovations this off season for the 2025 season.
The Marlins organization has developed a program that prepares its staff for a career in sports. We help our staff succeed in their career objectives by preparing for and learning from actual situations our staff encounters at the ballpark which are discussed and experienced daily.
Here's what we're looking for in an ideal candidate:
- Start date May 19th through approximately August 12th.
- Ability to work approximately 20 hours per week.
- Must work all 26 home games and potential playoff games during the 2025 season.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Record every play in the game using official scoring rules (hits, errors, fielder’s choices, etc.).
- Keep accurate pitch counts and player statistics.
- Ensure all stats are properly entered into Pointstreak for real-time updates.
- Update the scoreboard in real-time with runs, hits, errors, and other in-game stats.
- Troubleshoot technical issues with the scoring system.
- Have a solid understanding of baseball scoring rules and statistical tracking.
- Work closely with the Director of Scouting to ensure games are scored accurately.
- Must pass a Pointstreak operating test
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience / Qualifications Required:
- College level
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle multiple task
- Ability to work long hours, evenings and weekends
- Thorough understanding of the rules of baseball
