FOCUS: Public Address Announcer
The Morehead City Marlins (mhcmarlins.com) are one of the most successful teams in the Coastal Plain League which provides collegiate players the opportunity to play competitively in a wood-bat league during the summer months in front of professional scouts, while also providing the local community with an affordable summer entertainment destination everyone can enjoy.
The Marlins play at Big Rock Stadium which is undergoing renovations this off season for the 2025 season.
The Marlins organization has developed a program that prepares its staff for a career in sports. We help our staff succeed in their career objectives by preparing for and learning from actual situations our staff encounters at the ballpark which are discussed and experienced daily.
Here's what we're looking for in an ideal candidate:
- Start date May 19th through approximately August 12th.
- Ability to work approximately 20 hours per week.
- Must work all 26 home games and potential playoff games during the 2025 season.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Announcing pregame activities, starting lineups, all in-game action, public address announcements, presentations and other announcements as needed throughout each game.
- Create an energetic and engaging atmosphere at our events through pregame and in-game action.
- Review and provide feedback on PA script to ensure accuracy and seamless execution.
- Confidently announce to crowds of 1,000 people using a microphone.
- Pronounce complex names from a variety of ethnic backgrounds with clarity and professionalism.
- Read from script with the ability to adapt on the fly and improvise as necessary.
- Operate and update the scoreboard during games, ensuring accurate and timely display of game-related information.
- Maintain a professional image at all times, whether on or off the microphone.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience / Qualifications Required:
- College level
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with superior production and media knowledge
- Ability to handle multiple task
- Ability to work long hours, evenings and weekends
- Thorough understanding of the rules of baseball
