The Adult Learning Center at Morehead State University is accepting applications for a full-time position as an ABE Career Navigator. The anticipated start date is May 1, 2025.
Morehead State University is located in Morehead, KY, a designated Kentucky Trail Town, nestled in the Daniel Boone National Forest, in close proximity to Cave Run Lake. This location provides opportunities for a wide range of outdoor recreation activities. RESPONSIBILITIES: The position of Adult Basic Education Career Navigator at the Adult Learning Centers, operated by MSU, is primarily responsible for the coordination of transition services that includes a continuum of personal and instructional strategies, and collaborative support to enhance the awareness of and access to a network of community resources that supports individual career and educational goals. Incumbent also provides instruction (90% instruction) for resume development, interview skills, soft skills, and digital literacy. Incumbents will collaborate with community partners to provide opportunities which address student needs and barriers. Incumbents will work a balanced schedule between the adult learning centers in the counties operated by MSU.
REQUIREMENTS: Incumbent must possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related field. Two years of experience with the target population preferred. Excellent organizational and management skills are required. Ability to speak clearly and concisely in written and oral communication with diverse audiences. Organizational skills and excellent computer/software skills are required. Valid Kentucky driver’s license required, and incumbent must be willing and able to travel within the MSU adult education program service area.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in career or educational counseling and/or adult education instruction is desirable. Incumbent should also demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning and be dedicated to the betterment of the community through education. Experience in collaborating with community partners preferred.

Organizational Relationships
The ABE Career Navigator reports to the adult education program director and collaborates with other program staff to plan and implement adult education programs. Incumbent interacts regularly with adult education staff and students, MSU personnel, KY Skills U staff, KY Career Center staff and the public. Council on Postsecondary Education, Kentucky Skills U funds the position on an annual basis.
Physical Requirements
Incumbent must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to travel over the service area. Some light lifting, carrying totes, laptops, etc. will be necessary.
Working Conditions
Incumbent will travel between counties to work with students and instructors within the MSU adult education service area. Some training with overnight stays is necessary. Work is performed in a typical classroom or office environment. No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
