Job Summary
Summer Conference Assistants play an integral role in the support of students, staff and guests staying in MSU housing facilities during the summer. Conference Assistants provide a high-level of customer service for guests and campus partners, including facilitating check-in and check-out of housing facilities, serving as a resource for building, campus, and local services, and responding to guest questions and concerns. In addition, Conference Assistants provide overall support for the Office of Student Housing by completing necessary paperwork, assisting with department projects, and serving as a visible leader and representative of the department and university on campus.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitate the check-in and check-out processes for campus, conferences, and guests housed in university residence halls
- Provide high quality customer service for university students, staff, and guests housed in university residence halls, including serving as a resource for building, campus, and local services
- Assist with the preparation of materials for campus, conferences, and guest, including, but not limited to, the preparation of building signage/bulletin boards and check-in materials (keys, policies/procedures, etc.)
- Be present and attentive for scheduled shifts, including check-in/out times and hall front desk shift
- Conduct regular checks of university housing facilities to ensure the cleanliness, safety, and security of the facilities
- Respond to guest questions and concerns in an appropriate manner, including, but not limited to, facilities concerns, guests locked-out of their room, and emergency situations
- Complete all administrative documentation in a timely manner, including, but not limited to, facilities work requests, room condition reports, and guest occupancy reports
- Enforce university and conference policies and procedures, and submit documentation as necessary for any conflicts related to these policies and procedures
- Attend initial and continuing training as designated by supervisor
- Attend regular meetings with supervisor and summer conference staff team
- Provide administrative assistance in the Housing Office as needed
- Assist with Office of Student Housing projects, tasks, and assignments as needed
- Other duties as assigned
